Decarbonisation Accelerated XR Pitch Challenge
The Queensland XR Hub is excited to bring you the Decarbonisation Accelerated XR Pitch Challenge, in partnership with the Resources Centre of Excellence, GW3 and Advance Queensland.
This event will bring together the Queensland Extended Reality (XR) ecosystem with stakeholders from across the mining and METS (Mining Equipment, Technology and Services) industry as they pitch solutions to facilitate the acceleration of decarbonisation in this sector in response to the Problem Statement.
Decarbonisation Accelerated
The Australian resources sector has been the backbone for global and domestic energy production for many decades. As many global mining companies begin to take the lead on lowering their carbon emissions, the mining supply chain has an opportunity to proactively embrace the changes required to lower carbon outputs and secure new business opportunities driven by decarbonisation.
To pursue this opportunity, Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) and Resources Centre of Excellence (RCOE), along with other key regional partners, have come together to form the Decarbonisation Accelerated program. The program will guide the Queensland region to secure traditional industries, power new opportunities and how decarbonisation and diversification will be supported whilst growing the economy.
The XR Challenge
How can XR or other immersive technologies be utilised to communicate to individuals and businesses involved in METS about how they can reduce their carbon outputs and how this contributes to the broader decarbonisation and diversification vision for the region?
Join us for an afternoon of XR demonstrations, networking, and to learn how these innovations will help propel us into the future of sustainable mining.

From VRishing to Fake Overlays: Are your XR products, services and processes safe from harm?
Session Information
The University of Qld XR cybersecurity project explores the breadth and scope of novel and augmented attack scenarios in extended reality technologies and highly immersive, social platforms. Additionally, the project aims to develop an attack testbed and intervention tools to visualise risky interactions and avatars to users to support users in XR.
